Patrol Mtn Operations Director: Gary Deaver started patrolling at 49 North 22 years ago, working his way up from basic patroller to Director  of the patrol to mt. operations manager. He is on the mountain every day keeping an eye on all facets of patrol and mountain activities. Skier education, safety, and a consistent high level of customer service are the goals he sets for himself and the patrol day in day out. Making sure that a good time is had by all is also a priority. In the off season he is fond of golf, waterskiing and trying to wear his Harley out.

Patrol Director: Lyle Moholt  Lyle Moholt has been skiing at 49 Degrees North since 1982. He first joined the Patrol in 1999. He has served on the Patrol Board of Directors as a Member at Large, and a Hill caption for two terms. Lyle is also an OEC Instructor.  Both his children are Patrollers as well, Julian in his fourth year, and Rachael in her second. Lyle’s wife Linda as well is active with happenings on the hill, last year was her first as a Mountain Host (Blue Coats). One thing about Patrolling that Lyle enjoys the most is the high caliber and commitment the people have, who make the trip up the hill everyday to Patrol, along with the life long friendships that have fostered from the Patrol. In the summer Lyle and his family enjoy traveling in their motor home to sunny warm spots, the same one you will find parked at the hill most every weekend during ski season.

Hill Capitan: John Huffstutter is a Senior patroller and Hill Captain on the 49° North Ski Patrol.  He started patrolling in 1991 with the Ramstein Patrol in Germany and has been a member of four other patrols across four NSP divisions: Massanutten and Shenandoah Nordic (Southern), Mount Crescent (Rocky Mountain), and 49° North (Pacific Northwest).  He has served on division-level committees in the European and Southern divisions, and served five years on the Board of the Southern Division as Volunteer Patrol Director at the Massanutten Resort in Virginia .  His instructor credentials include Instructor Development, Winter/Outdoor Emergency Care, Alpine Toboggan, and avalanche Awareness; he‘s also been an OEC Instructor Trainer and Senior Evaluator.  He has taken the Patroller Enrichment Seminar, two versions each of the basic mountaineering and avalanche programs, advanced avalanche, Critical Incident Stress Management/Peer Counseling, and attended NSP’s Powderfall educational conference.  Outside the patrol he is an administrator in the Community Colleges of Spokane District Office.  He served 22 years in the Air Force in a variety of fields including POW/MIA affairs and survival, evasion, resistance and escape programs.
